Busy B's

Busy day yesterday in the B. household! I really had to carefully plan and time everything we did, including my long run.

I opened my eyes at 6:15 am (such a treat!) and realized that the kids were not up yet. Rather than put my head back down on the pillow, I raced to get up and hopefully enjoy my first cup of coffee in peace and quiet. No such luck - kiddo #1 beat me to the living room.

We had to head out, like most Saturdays, around 8:30 to get to swim class. Both little B.'s take swim class at 9:30. I do "mommy and me" swim class with the little one, which is a surprisingly great arm workout!

I'm trying to be very conscious about drinking more water these days, especially days I go running, so I grabbed this monstrous cup to filled with water on my way out the door.

Immediately after swim class, I dropped the older kiddo off at her best friend's house to play. She's known this little girl since she was about 2 and a half, and we know her parents well enough that I was able to drop her off and go about the rest of my morning, which consisted of spending too much money at the grocery store and feeding the littlest munchkin some lunch.

Munchkin #1 had a second play date in the afternoon, so I shuttled her over there and spent 2 hours there with her. I'll admit, I wasn't super psyched about spending 2 hours of my afternoon (my precious running time!!) over at my daughter's friend's house, making chit chat with someone I didn't know... But it turned out be surprisingly enjoyable. Great conversation with another friendly, interesting mommy. New friend - nice!

After all that, I still had to do my long run. Runners out there will understand when I say I had to... I got off to a much later start than I would have liked....

My run wasn't my fastest or most pain-free run of late, but it was very enjoyable and strangely relaxing. The sun was shining, the temperature was just right, and I had all sorts of thoughts and ideas running through my mind. Not sure why, but I feel like the creative juices are really flowing lately. (A product of boredom, perhaps? Or maybe a result of having created this new outlet for myself?) None of the ideas in my head were work-related, in the traditional sense. But maybe they could be work-related in the future if I put some time and energy into them...

Needless to say, the time went by fast. I intended to run 7, but this happened instead:

By the time I got back, it was time to make dinner and get the little B's ready for bed. It really was go, go, go all day! Here's to relaxing today, on this rainy Sunday!

  1. Nice job on your run! That's awesome that your kids take swim class. My nephews just turned 4 and I think they'll be taking lessons soon!
