Mommy likes...

Well, here it is - my first blog post since 2010.

I thought I'd start with a few of my favorite things. In no particular order:

  • Cooking & Baking: From Monday through Friday, cooking feels a bit like a chore after a long day at work. But on the weekends, cooking is a leisure activity for me! I love to create vegan versions of classic foods and experiment with creating my own recipes. I also love making vegan baked goods - particularly scones and biscuits.
  • Breakfast: I. LOVE. BREAKFAST. It is by far my biggest and most enjoyable meal of the day. In fact, I could (and sometimes do) eat breakfast for 2-3 meals a day. If you stick around this blog, you'll be seeing lots of breakfast photos, I assure you.
  • Running: I love running, but I don't like to run. Let me explain... I don't really like the act of running. I have to talk myself into it every single time. But yet I love running because I love the me time! I enjoy being alone with my thoughts for a while; getting lost in my music and the scenery. And I especially love the sense of accomplishment that comes along with finishing a long run. I have run 4 half marathons, 1 10-mile race, and a 10k race. I recently signed up for the first ever Hotlanta Half. It looks like a great course!
  • Circuit Training at Home: Once upon a time, I was a complete gym rat. The gym was my second home (arguably my first home). I would be up before the sun, working out and often teaching Spin classes. When I was 32 weeks pregnant with my first, I was told to stop exercising because she was measuring small and I was having a hard time gaining weight. And just like that, my relationship with the gym was over. After she was born, I went back to working out, but not the way I used to. I quickly discovered that I needed to be efficient with my time and squeeze in workouts whenever I could. Even driving to the gym would be a waste of precious minutes that I could be curling free weights or doing jump squats. So I built up quite a library of workout DVDs and never looked back. Currently, I'm on round 2 of the 21 Day Fix. The workouts are incredibly efficient and easy to fit into the day, at just 30 minutes long.
  • Wine: Not much to say here, other than I love a good glass of wine! I am by no means a connoisseur, and I often go for whatever's on sale. I used to be a Pinot Grigio girl, but right now I'm all about Sauvignon Blanc.
