Tuesday Bluesday

Blah. That pretty much sums up how I felt all day today.

I reluctantly got out of bed at 5:15 this morning to squeeze in some exercise (today was Upper Fix day on the 21 Day Fix). It's tough to get out of bed that early, but it's nice to have some uninterrupted time to workout, and it (usually) makes me feel much more awake an productive! Although today, it didn't work for me. Still felt tired and blah when I was done.

Baby Girl (20 months) woke up at 5:25 yelling, "Mommy?!" Rather than trying to get her settle back into bed and/or throwing in the towel on my workout, I brought it her out in the living room where she lounged in the princess chair, watching and waiting. Then came the highlight of my morning - breakfast (sad, I know).

Today was breakfast cookies! I'm all about making breakfast the night before to save myself time in the morning. I made 2 versions last night - protein cookies for mommy and daddy and regular cookies for the girlies. Quick recipe:

Protein Breakfast Cookies (makes 2 servings)
1 cup oats (either old fashioned or quick)
1 mashed banana
2 tbs natural peanut butter
1 tbs honey or maple syrup
2 tbs ground flaxseed
1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk (I prefer Silk)
1 tsp vanilla
2 tbs raisins
Cinnamon taste

Mix well and press into 2 plates. Cover and refrigerate overnight. You can either eat it cold or heat it up for 45-60 seconds in the micro.

After that lovely breakfast, the day just...was. It wasn't particularly bad, but it wasn't particularly great. It just was. Blah.

I left work with a tension headache (that I still have), picked the girls up, and came home to make a quick and easy dinner of BBQ tempeh. (No picture. Still getting back into the swing of this blogging thing.)

By the time I got the littlest munchkin settled in bed it was after 8, which meant mommy got a late start on her run. I set out around 8:15, and I could tell from the start it wasn't going to be a great run for me. And it wasn't. I struggled just to break a 10:00 mile, when just a couple weeks ago I ran a 10k at an 8:57 pace. It was disappointing, but my body was sending me pretty clear signals that I need some rest! And, oh my shins!

Lucky for me, my blah day is ending on a bit of a high note... I just stumbled upon Pearl Jam 20 on VH1 Classic! HUGE HUGE fan here!!

And with that, I'm off to get some much needed rest! I leave you with a random question:

Do you ever have days when no matter what or how much you eat, you're still hungry?? What do you do on those days - continue eating or try to ignore it? I may or may have had one of those days...
