5 Things Friday #6

Happy 4th of July everyone!

I hope you're all enjoying some fun in the sun today, just like me!

Here are 5 things I'm loving on this fabulous Friday:

1) Spiru-tein - I used to drink this stuff all.the.time. I stopped buying it for a while, since it's not exactly cheap. But I finally cracked and ordered some from Amazon this week. So happy to have this back in my life! I mix it with unsweetened vanilla almond milk. I just throw in a shaker bottle, shake it up, and it gets just thick enough to be filling.

2) Hint Water - I've been doing a pretty good job lately of drinking lots of water, but generally speaking, I find water pretty boring. This stuff is great because, as the name implies, it has just a hint of flavor, without any added calories or artificial flavors.

3) Total body circuit training - Like I mentioned the other day, I'm getting reacquainted to some of my trusty workout DVDs in my extensive library. Today it was Power Circuit Training with Jackie Warner. I had forgotten what a fantastic workout this is! I think I overreacted a couple months ago about gaining a few pounds back, and fell into the trap of thinking that low impact = low results (even though I know better than that). It was nice to do some slower, controlled movements and really work my muscles - ALL of them!

4) Hangin' out at the pool - Need I say more here?? It's great having a pool in our neighborhood, just a few minutes' walk from our house. It's membership only, so it's never overly crowded. We didn't get much use out of our membership last year because of all the rain. So we're making up for lost time!

5) Colorful quinoa salad - I found this recipe on FitSugar via Facebook. I made a few tweaks based on what I had on hand, such as using Whole Foods soy ginger sauce since my sesame oil had gone bad. It was tasty, but I think next time I would add some scallions to give it a little more flavor.

What are you loving this week?
